107 male players so far qualified for grand open | 2024 Nile Special Pool Open

The road to Lugogo continues among the male and female players prior to the prestigious 2024 Nile Special national open pool championship.

A total of 128 male players and 64 females qualify to play at the grand finale of this event at the NCS Indoor Arena, Lugogo.

So far, 107 male players have made the grade with the latest having qualified from Kings Spot Bar (Entebbe), Gardens Bar (Paidah), Silver Springs (Kasese), Emirate Pub (Kiboga), Amoo Bar (Namuwongo) and Bunyoro Sports Club (Hoima).

The three players who qualified from Kings Spot Bar in Nkumba along Entebbe Road included Eria Kimuli, Laban Ariho and Gideon Mawa.

“It is yet another good time for me to qualify from Kings Spot Bar. I will up my preparations in coming weeks to make an impact at the national open” Kimuli told Kawowo Sports.

Pool table action

From the Gardens Bar (Paidah), the trio of Ronald Odongkara, Rogers Ocircan and Shabon Kabila.

In Kasese at Silver Springs; Salim Saba, Fazil Derlima Turinawe and Hassan Shaqib made the top three.

Emirate Pub (Kiboga) had Afani Buyondo, Andrew Barekye and Prince Akiram Yiga qualified.

From Amoo Bar (Namuwongo), it was John Kafeeri, Jimmy Mwesigye and Laurence Wasswa who qualified.

At Bunyoro Sports Club in Hoima city, seasoned Allan Nsubuga, Derrick Talemwa and Joseph Balikuddembe made the grade.

Next round of qualifiers:

On 25th October 2024, action will be at Naama Inn (Mityana), Koma Gardens (Matugga) and Casablanca (Wandegeya).

The following day (26th October 2024), there will be action in Arua (Buddies Bar), Busega (Da Mango Bar), Luwero (Kakande’s) and in Mubende (Care Pub).

In total, there are supposed to be 128 players at the grand finale (for the men) and 64 females.

Some of the successful women to qualify

Females:

Sixty-four females will compete at the main open. Action is coming up for the ladies at New Choice Bar (Fort Portal), Icon Lounge (Kitgum) and Da Villa Lounge (Masaka).

The Nile Special National Pool Open championship is arguably the greatest pool open in Uganda with hefty prize money from the main sponsors, Nile Breweries Limited (under the flagship brand of Nile Special).

Besides the cash to the 16 players (men) and outstanding 8 (females), the winners are also given cars.

Ceasar Chandiga and Rukia Naiga are the male and female reigning champions respectively.
