2024 Entebbe Mental Health Cup (Football):
- Spice FC Entebbe 3 (5) – 3 (4) Special Forces Command (SFC)
The inaugural edition of the Entebbe Mental Health football cup, organized by Munnange Counseling Center (MCC) was successfully played on Wednesday, 27th November 2024 at Works playground, Entebbe.
The match was played along the theme “Championing Mental Health among the youth” with a special call to the youth to get special attention towards their mental health.
Played over a slippery wet ground, following the torrential rains throughout the day, the match left lasting impressions, sweet and fond memories.
Spice Football Club Entebbe, a combined team of active and retired footballers within Entebbe Municipality clinched the inaugural edition, winning a trophy and gold medals.
The victors recovered from a goal down to win 5-4 in post-match penalties over Special Forces Command (SFC) team after normal time had ended 3 goals apiece.
Charles Odeke scored a brace and Arafat Dafala added the other for Spice FC Entebbe.
There was joy unlimited as the Spice FC Entebbe team captain Dan Chan received the special trophy from the chief guest Jovia Tugume Namaara, a famous female golfer who is also the lady captain at Entebbe Club.
“It is prudent to associate with the youth in sports and other social activities. I have been known in golf but now spreading wings to football, netball, cycling, cricket and other sports disciplines. This is a humble way to pay back beautifully” Tugume who was flanked by his son remarked.
This match was graced by the Deputy Mayor Charles Kabwama who lauded the efforts of Munnange Counseling Center in their endeavors of promoting good mental health.
“I salute Munnange Counseling Center for organizing this mental health football match. This is one way of rallying the youth to live responsible lives. I thank Munnange for their deliberate efforts to improve the mental health of the people” Hon. Kabwama stated.

A number of stakeholders joined hands to make the event a success. The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) Entebbe was among and were responsible for blood testing, condoms distribution and counseling.
Other organizations included Prosper Soccer Academy (procured all the medals), Safaris By Jovial, Entebbe Municipal Council, Katabi CSO Network, Relief Care Uganda, Family Medical Point (FMP), Gracy Minds Empowerment Initiative Uganda as well as media partners Gateway News, Record Radio, UBC TV and Vision Group.
This event follows the Mental Health day celebrations hosted by Munnange Counseling Center at Nkumba University in October 2024.
The organizers intend to make it an annual football fiesta.
