Uganda’s national motorcross team was officially flagged off for the 2024 FIM Africa Motorcross of Africa Nations championships due in Marrakech city, Morocco.
The flag-off ceremony was conducted at the Copper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo, Kampala on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024.

MX 2 champion Stav Orland will lead the 27-man team as captain for the squad that has 8 categories in Mx 50cc senior, Mx 65cc, Mx 85cc, Mx 125cc, MX1, MX2, MX Vets and MX Masters.
“We are determined as team Uganda to give our best shot forward and compete favorably for top honours. The preparations have been top notch and I can assure a brave performance from all the lads on the team” Orland remarked.

The flag off ceremony was witnessed by the assistant general secretary for National Council of Sports (NCS) Joseph Oluga.
“Represent well the national flag of Uganda. Give the best performance to perform well, excel and win trophies. This will also market the country” Oluga hinted.

Team composition:
MX 25 category has one rider in Abigail Birungi. Edrine Musede and Hellena Birungi are in MX50.
Larry Ssekamwa, Ashraf Mbabazi and Ethan Musede will compete in the MX65.
Gift Ssebuguzi, Ali Kimera, Ethan Kateke, Jeyson Barrows will ride under the MX 85. The MX125 cluster has Dan Mitima and Malcom Omoding.
Fortune Ssentamu, Ashimu Sserwadda and Ismail Mukiibi are in MX1.
MX2 is well represented by the captain Stav Orland, Milton Akaki and Omar Warid.

Geoffrey Kayiira, Ali Kigozi and Ashraf Mbabazi will ride in the veteran class.
Uganda Motorcross Association President Jimmy Akena is in the MX Masters.
During the same championships last year in Cape Town city of South Africa, Uganda was third overall.
