The correlation between a parent, guardian or an elder with a child is significant in the upbringing of the young-ones to become responsible adults.
The parties build a synergy that helps the child in the day-to-day of life, with numerous benefits as the perfect bonding, exemplary lifestyles among others.
Such is the motive behind the parent-child golf championship, now marking its third edition since inception by AFRIYEA Golf Academy, Uganda.
For the third year running since 2022, the parent-child golf championship will take center stage this Saturday, 21st December 2024 at the par 70-Toro Golf Club, in Fort Portal, Western Uganda.
Family affair; team-work & love for golf:
The key elements of this championship relate to the family bonding, creativity, team-working values as well as the sheer shared love for this swing, drive, chip and putting game.
“Golf transcends being just a sport it is a bridge across generations, uniting families through shared experiences and cherished memories. The Parent-Child Golf Championship is a celebration of these connections, where grandparents, parents, and children come together on the fairway to not only compete but to bond, learn, and grow. This event exemplifies the timeless values of golf: patience, respect, and sportsmanship, nurturing family unity in a way few other activities can.” Remarks Isaiah Mwesige, the founder and CEO of AFRIYEA Golf Academy, Uganda.
The format of play will be embedded upon alternating shots with the partners taking turns to hit the ball, working together as a team.
In 2022, the pair of Hope Cissy Gonzaga and his son Damian Asiimwe Amooti were victorious.
They were proceeded by Peace Kabasweka and his son, Steve Tusiime smiled to the podium as winners in 2023.
Such a tournament makes the adult appreciate the efforts of his son or daughter while on the course to avoid shanks, bunkers and other hazards on the course with the target of hitting the pin.
This exhilarating competition provides young players with a platform to gain confidence and develop their competitive abilities.
Such a championship further underscores the AFRIYEA Golf Academy’s dedication to transforming lives through the power of golf.
