Elyon ran over Prisons with a well-deserved 3-1 victory in the National Volleyball League at Sport-S Grounds in Nsambya on Sunday.

Elyon staged a young, vibrant, but determined team that looks to be well-oiled as the season unfolds. It’s two victories in two games for Elyon.

The youthful side came out of the blocks early to take the first set 29-27 as Prisons found it hard to block Silver Owinjo’s hot hand.

Prisons responded superbly in the tight contest, taking the second set 25-22, thus restoring parity.

Elyon reclaimed their lead in the third set 25-22, setting up an exciting and highly anticipated fourth set.

Owinjo was unplayable in the last set, placing Prisons in a tight spot as they trailed 14-25.

The crowd was in full volume and delight, witnessing the young talents stage a thrilling game of volleyball.

“It was not an easy game at all. They gave us a great challenge, unlike the game we won against UCU (Doves),” Owinjo told Kawowo Sports.

“I think the game was so tight, and some of our players were under pressure. That’s why we lost the second set. I also think going forward we need to improve on our reception.”

“I believe the coach has noted some of our shortcomings, so we shall go back and correct our mistakes so that we can improve as a team,” he concluded.
