Jared Goff was perfect and made NFL history on Monday Night Football.
But Goff wasn’t good enough to receive a prestigious game ball from his Detroit Lions head coach.

In an embarrassing but hilarious moment that will be remembered by Lions fans for years to come, fiery coach Dan Campbell congratulated his Detroit players in the locker room after a 42-29 home win over the Seattle Seahawks in prime time.
Campbell then highlighted three special Lions, with each receiving a game ball.
Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson received one, despite not actually playing in the game.
Safety Kerby Joseph was saluted by the Lions and also received a memento from a victory that pushed Detroit to 3-1 as did Jameson Williams.
But as Campbell pumped up the locker room and Detroit players gave speeches, Goff’s name was never called.
Even more remarkable was the fact that the Lions quarterback produced a perfect game, completing all 18 of his pass attempts for 292 yards, two touchdowns and a 155.8 rating.
Goff also caught a TD pass as the Lions handed Seattle (3-1) its first defeat.
The veteran Detroit QB set an NFL record by completing all 18 of his passes.
But he was 0-of-3 on game balls, and it wasn’t until Campbell’s post-win press conference that the proud coach learned of his glaring mistake.
Campbell was asked about Goff’s perfect completion percentage.

He responded with a brutal admission.
“I just gave the game ball to somebody else, so I feel awful right now,” the Lions coach said.
Laughter from reporters broke the tension in the room.
“I knew he played a heck of a game,” Campbell said. “I did not realize he was perfect.
“I did not know he was literally 18-for-18.
“But I knew he played really well. You could feel it.”
So did Lions fans, who got a kick out of the Detroit coach missing so badly — especially on a night when three game balls were handed out.
“Haha that’s so funny,” one fan tweeted.
“Even my franchise QB in my Madden franchise doesn’t put these types of numbers,” a second fan posted. “Give him the game ball Lt Dan.”

“Goff is gonna prank him now,” a third fan wrote.
“Goff was on fire, but Campbell’s humor wins!” a fourth fan said.
Goff still won big, writing his name into the NFL history book.
He can also afford a few extra footballs if he wants them.
The former No. 1 draft pick out of California has earned more than $240 million in his career and is set to make $401 million by 2028.
Goff already made the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams.t
The 29-year-old QB hopes to lead Detroit to New Orleans this year for the big game.
If Goff guides the Lions to their first Super Bowl win, surely Campbell will remember that he deserves a game ball.
