Wednesday racing tips

MUSSELBURGH
2.20: Cashlyn Cavalier 13/8 (1.5pts)

KEMPTON
4.35: Gallant 5/2 (1pt)
5.45: Kinta 10/1 Each-way (1.5pts)

Cashlyn Cavalier

It’s quite rare to see a two-year-old come into a race with form of 567 going into a handicap debut as by far the biggest contender in the betting at around 13/8 ahead of the next horse Storm The Dug at 8/1.

But that 7th placed finish was good form behind some useful horses and may well have more to offer over 7f for the first time, while also being given a very workable mark.

Others could be preferred for their each-way prices and potential but this looks set to be a decent outing for trainer Karl Burke who often does so well with his two-year-olds.

Gallant

Gallant was 5th of 12 last time out behind Nascimento, who had previously gone close to Age Of Gold and also a close 10th in the Group 2 Coventry at Royal Ascot.

2nd place in that race as Redoarange who has since gone on to win nicely, as has Shout, who placed 3rd.

West Acre needed to cover a lot of ground in the final furlong to go on and win at Newcastle last time out and he was impressive to win in such a way.

It’s no surprise to see him favourite but it’s not guaranteed upped to 6f, though it will look like it will suit well, he’s also having to carry 7lb as a penalty for that victory.

Gallant could learn a lot from his debut and go on to better effect here and is given a huge chance at the weights, while also appealing in the first time tongue-tie.

Kinta

Would be keen on Night Raider due to him coming out for the second time since a wind op, but 6f is a bit of a question mark.

He was 5th last time out at Newmarket on his first try over 6f, but that could be down to the trip, ground or even getting used to his new breathing ability.

The Karl Burke-trained colt is 2-2 on the all-weather. But Willem Twee appeals more than the three-year-old as he was a close second behind Montassib before going on to win by a nose last time out.

That form has worked out really well as Montassib went on to win the Group 1 Betfair Sprint at Haydock.

2nd placed Kinross has also since gone on to win at Doncaster, beating Lead Artist by two lengths in the Group 2 Park Stakes.

However, Kinta who has won over course and distance before also went a neck second when 22/1 behind Willem Twee in November.

He’s now given an extra 4lb in this race compared to that listed contest, and is a great each-way price as a result, having only been seen twice since in February and March.
