Uganda’s referee Kasaliirwe to handle 2024 U-20 Cecafa opener

Match 1: Sudan Vs Djibouti – Azam Complex – 6PM

Match 2: Tanzania Vs Kenya – KMC Stadium – 4 PM

The TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations CECAFA region qualifiers 2024 will officially get underway on Sunday, October 6 in Dar es salaam city, Tanzania.

Sudan takes on Djibouti at the Azam Complex, a contest that will be officiated by Ugandan referee Lucky Kasaliirwe.

He will be assisted by Ethiopia’s Tafese Ashebir (first assistant) and Ugandan Brianson Musisi (second assistant).

Two other Ethiopians Ephrame Debele and Gizate Alemu are reserve referee and refeere assessor respectively.

Tanzania Vs Kenya:

Hosts Tanzania take on Kenya in the other game at the KMC Stadium.

Burundian Rodrique Bigirimana is the referee. He will work alongside South Sudan’s Robert Duwuki (assistant referee 1), Burundi’s Olivier Nibogora (second assistant).

The reserve referee is Suavis Iratunga from Burundi and Uganda’s Mark Ssonko as the referee assessor.

Uganda is the defending champion and is pooled in group B alongside Ethiopia, Burundi, and South Sudan.

The Uganda Hippos commence their title defence against Ethiopia on Monday, October 7th, at the Azam Complex, kick-off at 18:00 EAT.
