Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney won’t be getting their football fix this weekend.

The Wrexham owners will be forced to wait until their beloved side are back in action due to the impact of the latest international break.

They were expected to be in action against Lincoln City as they continue their bid for an incredible third successive promotion in the Football League.

But that fixture has been called off and here’s why that’s the case…

Why are Wrexham not playing this weekend?

The international break has led to mass postponements in League One.

Rules in England state that clubs are allowed to call off fixtures if three or more of their players are called up to represent their countries.

And such is the quality of teams in the third tier at the moment, many sides lose players to their national teams.

This in turn means that they can have their games postponed over the break and 10 of the 12 scheduled League One fixtures are now not going ahead.

This is what has happened to Wrexham’s match against Lincoln City, but it’s not the Red Dragons who have forced the game off.

In fact, it has been called off due to Lincoln having three call-ups in their squad.

Confirming that the game would be postponed, Wrexham released a statement last week.

It read: “We can confirm that our fixture against Lincoln City at the SToK Cae Ras, set to take place on Saturday, October 12, has been postponed due to international call-ups.

“The visitors, Lincoln City, have received the required number of call-ups to request a postponement, which has now been approved by the EFL.”

There has yet to be a date confirmed for the rearranged game, but that is expected to be announced in due course.

Tom Brady-backed Birmingham City have also had their match on Saturday afternoon postponed for the same reason.

In the meantime, if like Hollywood’s Reynolds and McElhenney, you’re going to miss your football fix, talkSPORT have you covered.

One of the only two League One games still going ahead will be exclusively live on talkSPORT 2.
