Aline Pereira knocked out Dee Begley in the first round of her Karate Combat debut on Friday.

The KO came from a devastating left hook with 40 seconds left on the clock in the Brazilian’s Karate Combat debut.

For once, it wasn’t the current UFC light heavyweight champion stealing the headlines, but his sister.

Just like her brother, Pereira previously fought in kickboxing promotion GLORY before transitioning to MMA.

The 34-year-old grew up in Sao Paulo alongside her brother and their three other siblings, training in martial arts from a young age.

Pereira went 21-3 as an amateur kickboxer before she turned professional. She only had two fights with GLORY, winning one and losing the other.

“Power is in my family DNA. All the training I do with my brother is focused on the reality of combat in the ring,” she said, in an interview with the promotion after she signed.

Pereira lost on her MMA debut under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner, before winning her second nearly a year later.

Then, in her last MMA bout to date, she lost to Cheyanna Bowers via unanimous decision, so it wasn’t surprising to see her make yet another switch but this time to Karate Combat.

Pereira was dominant in her bout against Begley, who trains at SBG Ireland – the home of two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor.

Although Pereira went into the bout six inches taller than her opponent, the power and quality advantage she possessed was also evident.

What was also evident was the fact she has clearly been training with her brother, leveraging the Pereira family to the summit of combat sports.

Pereira finished her opponent with a combination of a straight right hand followed by a left hook, akin to her brother’s KO victory over Israel Adesanya at UFC 281 in November 2022.

“That’s the Pereira left hook. My big brother’s the one who taught me,” she said after the fight.

The professional fighter’s league adopts a unique set of rules to make their matches more entertaining than traditional karate matches.

The slanted walls around the karate mat add a compelling nature to the fights and often lead to wild finishes in fights.

KC 50 also witnessed Daniel Sathler submit Matheus Costa via an incredible submission.

The Brazilian threw himself off the wall, wrapped his legs around the head of his opponent and turned the move into a flying arm bar.

With Costa at risk of his arm being snapped into two pieces, he tapped immediately.
