Tuesday racing tips
Market Rasen
2.05: Rialannah 7/4 (1.5pts)
3.05: Court In The Act 6/5 (2pts)
4.05: Hidden Depths 11/2 Each-way (1pt)
Rialannah
Trained by Sue Smith and ridden by Harry Cobden, Rialannah has gone close in three novice mare contests.
That would usually be a bit of a downfall or negative coming into a handicap but she’s shown great promise in the ratings.
Especially her fairly close third placed finish at Huntingdon behind Springtime Promise, who has since gone on to achieve a decent rating of 131.
The mare then didn’t quite find her next two events comfortable enough but her two latest races placing 2nd of 11 in succession.
She was a decent 2nd though with no extra offered in the final furlong last time out behind The Lord Maid, who has now achieved a rating of 125.
To give Rialannah a mark of 110 certainly gives her a huge chance coming into this maiden event and could be a surprise for those who backed Roadlesstravelled at odds-on yesterday, who hasn’t been seen for 521 days since winning a point to point.
Court In The Act
Pillar Of Steel often wins when he’s dropped back down to this kind of weight, winning over course and distance back in July when 16/1.
So he can’t be ruled out returning down another lb in the ratings as he’s just 2lb higher from his last victory.
His previous win before that was off 109 beating Pop The Champagne over this distance at Stratford in August 2023.
Court In The Act placed 1212 before coming ninth last time out but that was a tough Class 2 novice hurdle with 20 runners, and he wasn’t disgraced ten lengths back, and could be more effective on seasonal return.
Hidden Depths
The 2m5f Class 3 Handicap Chase is an interesting one with just six runners.
Hidden Depths was too good for Kinondo Kwetu at Perth last month in a competitive but small field 3m contest in Class 2 company.
He did receive a huge weight from the top-rated rival but made it count, going well throughout.
He’s only been upped 4lb as a result of that win and drops down slightly in distance today, but over one he’s won at before.
And James Bowen is back on board as they step down in class too, so he could steer this gelding to back to back wins.
Hidden Depths has won four of his last nine races and is coping well with the steady rise in the weights.
