Logan Paul couldn’t hide his excitement in discussing rapper Jelly Roll’s rival chokeslam of WWE wrestler Austin Theory at SummerSlam.

Paul wrestled LA Knight at the megashow in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio in August, losing his United States Championship in the process.

The Maverick hasn’t wrestled since but has set his sights on a return to the squared circle before long, and continues to discuss WWE topics on his YouTube podcast Impaulsive.

A recent guest on the show was the charismatic rapper and singer, the pair collectively accounting for some of SummerSlam’s biggest moments – Paul’s stunning top rope moonsault, and Jelly Roll’s dispatching of the villainous Theory later in the night.

WWE veterans The Miz and R-Truth had come to the ring prior to the evening’s main event match to salute the huge 51,000 strong crowd, only to be interrupted by Theory and pal Grayson Waller.

The dastardly pair ran down everything and everybody in sight – not least the fans, and Jelly Roll, who’d performed live earlier in the night.

The 39-year-old took exception to their words and promptly entered the ring, joining forces with the heroes of the piece to see of Theory and Waller – including a huge chokeslam of the former.

The real-life Jason DeFord raised the incident on the podcast, which prompted an explosion of excitement from Paul, who leapt from his seat to exclaim how much he’d loved seeing the spot.

His eyes bulging, Paul said: “Oh my god, dude, that was sick. You nailed it. I remember seeing that and was like: ‘Woah, yes!’

“Let’s go, dude, you chokeslammed the f*** out of him!”

Jelly Roll went on to discuss the intricacies of the incident further, casting aside kayfabe – the industry term for the maintaining the illusion that wrestling and its characters are ‘real’ – to give due props to Theory, who he claimed was a ‘superhero’ for how well he took the mammoth move.

“I caught the bug in a way that I’ve never caught a bug,” he added: “I caught a bug so much it made me want to buy a ring, it was awesome, dude.

“To shoot on it for a second, because I haven’t got to do this yet and this is where I was hoping I got to do it: Austin Theory is a superhero.

“He is a f****** hero is what he is, and I’m not in the business so I don’t have to carry kayfabe, that dude made me look like a f****** rock star.

“I love that dude and will forever. He told me that whole night: ‘I got you, dog. Trust me.’

“I did the work, too. I went back there and spent some time with The Miz, who is the best. R-Truth, too. He’s such a good coach.

“I felt so comfortable with them.”

Paul and Jelly Roll would then reflect on the art form that is professional wrestling – particularly WWE’s version of it under the stewardship of Head of Creative Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque.

The influencer and entrepreneur spoke of the appreciation he has for the industry now he’s inside it, saying: “I appreciate what you said about the showmanship and artistry of what you’re witnessing because that’s something that, to my core, I’m obsessed with.

Theory’s performance in taking the move made a lasting impact on the starWWE

“Every single action has a meaning and is important to get right and has a depth that I think the average person doesn’t understand.

“Once you’re in the world, and you realise the stories that you’re watching. I’m glued. Now I’m a fan.”

Logan Paul made his wrestling debut in 2022, ironically alongside The Miz at WrestleMania before the pair went on to feud later in the year.
