Victor Wembanyama’s Rookie of the Year debut season lived up to the hype.
The Alien looked like he was on another planet at times and still has plenty of room to grow.
Wembanyama is set to dominate the NBA for years
He has been busy in the offseason – reportedly adding 25 pounds to his 6 foot 3 inch frame.
San Antonio Spurs center Wemby may end up looking like something out of Space Jam by the time he hits his physical peak.
Legendary power forwards Kevin Garnett and Zach Randolph discussed the 20-year-old on the All The Smoke podcast.
They think Wembanyama should look to the past as he looks to dominate the league for the foreseeable future.
“I love where the game is. I love where the skill is at because the s*** they doing now, if they was doing that with us, you ain’t got no guys taking no step back triple threes,” said Randolph.
“The game has changed. You got Wemby. He’s seven foot, bro, going between your legs. Like, come on, bro.”
“Man, Wemby is scary,” replied Garnett.
“I look at Wemby. Can you imagine if he invested in a Hakeem Olajuwon tape or if he went and sought out Tim Duncan and got some of that knowledge?”
“It’s scary about his potential.”
Olajuwon was so dominant that Shaquille O’Neal admitted he was powerless to stop him, while Duncan won five NBA titles.
Garnett’s career saw him enshrined into the Hall of Fame in 2020
Duncan made the grade in the same year as Garnett
Garnett and Rudolph are two of the best big men to play the game and had their own tips for Wemby.
“It’s scary. I gotta go watch him play, man. He exciting. He excitement,” said Randolph.
“Wait till he simplifies it. When he stops doing all this dribbling, starts hitting you off the glass and just jabbing you. What made you simplify it?” Garnett asked.
“Probably as I got older, because I was seeing the game change, because even with Memphis, they brought me off the bench,” said Z-Bo.
“I think (David) Fizdale brought me off the bench because he wanted to play smaller. I see how it was progressing towards the end of my career. How they want to open, play fast. Everybody wanted to adapt to how Golden State play.
“Everybody seen that wave, how they came in. So everybody kind of wanted their teams want to play that way. I definitely seen it coming, changes towards the end of my career.
“Shooting more. That’s why I got to shoot more threes, doing more face-ups and simplifying the game.”

“That s*** made you much more hard to guard,” admitted Garnett.
“Because then I came in thinking I was just going to have to bear hug and it’s going to be this ball fight.
“And then you went like this, you still banking it off the glass, throwing that slow-a** jab.”
