Villa squander two-goal lead against resilient Bright Stars

SC Villa blew a two-goal lead against Soltilo Bright Stars FC as the latter forced a 2-2 draw in the game played at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Friday.

In an eventful game, the Jogoos had a great start and took the lead through Patrick Jonah Kakande in the 13th minute.

The diminutive forward converted from the spot after Bright Stars defender Jonathan Gift Odongo held the ball in the box.

Bright Stars nearly equalized five minutes later through Nelson Ssenkatuka but goalkeeper Braddock Jean Wokorach was well stationed to save.

In the 22nd minute Charles Lwanga doubled the lead for the hosts, tapping home from a ball that ricocheted off the post.

The visitors however returned recharged after recess and made attempt after attempt. The pressure eventually yielded fruits with Pascali Oketcho scoring direct from a free kick in the 53rd minute.

Bright Stars had two goals cancelled in quick succession with the referees calling for offside on both occasions.

Mustapha Kassim eventually got the equalizer after picking the ball in the middle of the park.

The result leaves SC Villa in seventh place on as many points while Soltilo Brights Stars FC remain winless and have three points in five games.
