Ed Quigley is back with his best bets for Exeter’s card on what should be an exciting card on Tuesday…

Ted’s best bets for Tuesday 22, October, 2024:

Find the following picks for the races of the day on Tuesday, October 22. Play on the races with our best expert-rated horse racing betting sites:

Exeter 3.18 – Move With The Beat – bet with talkSPORT BET

Exeter 3.53 – Striking A Pose – each way bet with Betano

Exeter 4.28 – An Tailliur – bet with Betfred

Exeter 3.18 – Move With The Beat

Naturally the booking of Harry Cobden for the Emma Lavelle team grabs the eye with the unexposed MOVE WITH THE BEAT. This unexposed 5-year-old goes Chasing for the first time, and should have a lot more to offer in this sphere.

With only a few runs under his belt over Hurdles, this ex winning pointer should really come into his own now tackling fences, and a mark of 100 doesn’t look like anything to fear.  He also looked much happier dropping down to a similar trip to this when fourth on his final hurdles start at this venue where it appeared as though he acted much better on a sound surface.

The form of that race has worked out well, so there is every chance here that this son of Doyen can crack on and prove well ahead of the accessor on this occasion. Harry Cobden in the saddle heightens confidence and a big run is on the cards for a yard who have been amongst the winners lately.

Exeter 3.53 – Striking A Pose each way

STRIKING A POSE has a bit of a hot and cold profile, but comes alive at this venue, so it would be far from a shock if the Joe Tizzard trained 8-year-old staged a revival here. The gelding has a quite remarkable record of winning on all four occasions he has visited the Devon venue, and so he cannot be written off from getting back to winning ways in this Class 3 Handicap Hurdle.

He is versatile in regards to underfoot requirements and in regards to trip so he looks to have a lot of boxes ticked here coming into this. The Tizzard Team have been in good form lately and this looks the ideal opportunity for the horse to bounce back with Freddie Gingell in the saddle claiming 3lb.

This looks a gloriously wide-open event so it isn’t hard to envisage Striking A Pose getting involved from an each-way perspective at the business end of proceedings and this combination get the nod from me.

Exeter 4.28 – An Tailliur

AN TAILLIUR ran somebig races in defeat in recent times, and has had just the two starts over fences finishing runner-up on debut at Stratford, and then disappointed when last at Worcester on very testing ground last time out.

Off a mark of 129, he looks to be on a mark here where he can easily get involved. The yard are in good form, and the key to this horse is having a sound surface, so providing the rains stay away, he should have his optimum surface and can make his presence felt in this company. He won on his only previous visit to the track so Exeter’s undulations hold no fears and he has the raw ability to strike in a race of this nature.

It is also worth bearing in mind that having been off the track for 500 days before going chasing, he was perfectly entitled to need the run to strip fitter on the comeback trail after such a long absence. Jonjo O’Neill Jnr takes the ride and I think this combination look the value play.
