Ally McCoist has confirmed that he will NOT be appearing on the 2024 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
The Scottish football legend had been heavily linked with an appearance on the hit ITV show which takes place later this year.
Ally McCoist won’t be appearing on this year’s I’m A Celebrity
McCoist is a hugely popular figure as a host on talkSPORT, while also working as a co-commentator and pundit for both ITV and TNT Sports, and has already been asked twice to appear on the show.
Having rejected the show in 2019 and 2022, ITV bosses were said to be hopeful the former Rangers star would be on the show this time around.
However, speaking exclusively on talkSPORT Breakfast with Jeff Stelling, McCoist revealed the truth.
Asked if he would be escaping the British autumn and jetting off to the Australian jungle, McCoist confirmed: “No – there’s your answer.”
Stelling then replied: “That’s a definitive no.”
McCoist then continued: “It’s brilliant, right. My wee mate phoned me and said, ‘What a decision you’ve got to make – sitting on the halfway line in the best seats in the house at the San Siro and watching Inter Milan v Man City or AC Milan vs Arsenal – or eating a bag of spiders!’”
Stelling responded: “Well, when you put it that way…”
It comes just two weeks after McCoist gave a coy response when probed by Alan Brazil and Gabby Agbonlahor on the rumours, saying: “No, I don’t know, I don’t think so.”
It led Agbonlahor to say: “You don’t know? Whoa, whoa, whoa, you don’t know? That’s not a no!”
McCoist then quipped: “To be fair Gab, I could do with losing a stone-and-a-half, couldn’t I?”
McCoist is a hugely popular figure for talkSPORT and other broadcasters
McCoist previously revealed he is a huge fan of the TV programme – insisting his wife would love being put up in a five-star hotel during his stint Down Under.
He said in 2019: “My wife is not giving a monkey’s about me eating spiders and earwigs, she is just wanting a two stretch in that Versace hotel.
“It’s the biggest thing we watch as a family, it’s brilliant entertainment.”
He even admitted his children refused to speak to him after he turned the show down, stating: “The kids aren’t talking to me at all.
“The younger ones would love it and the older ones would love it as well. They are going to school and they are getting it off their pals.”
