Kitara FC have named Wasswa Bbosa as their head coach following the departure of Brian Ssenyondo.

The appointment was imminent following an abysmal start to the season by the Royals winning just one match in six and sitting in relegation zone despite a spending spree in the transfer window.

After guiding the team to their first major trophy, the Stanbic Uganda Cup last season, Ssenyondo was meant to take the team to the next level by fighting for the league.

However, despite improving the squad by recruiting Patrick Kaddu, Titus Ssematimba, Ronald Otti, Fred Amaku, Marvin Nyanzi, Umar Lutalo, Moses Sseruyidde and David Ndihabwe among others, the club has struggled for results losing all but one match since they beat new comers Lugazi 3-0 in the league opener.

Uganda Cranes players Jude Ssemugabi and Denis Omedi have looked a shadow in Kitara colours but brilliant for the national team while the rest have struggled for form.

What does Bbosa need to fix?

Lots. First, the disunity caused by intrigue from some members of management that has infiltrated into the players with some playing for the coach while others didn’t care.

According to reliable sources, Ssenyondo’s working relationship with some members on the management committee and the secretariat was toxic and they bowed to fight him till he failed and they have succeeded.

Since the start of the season, they have done everything possible to fail the youthful tactician by dividing the dressing room and it has shown.

However, a good number within the squad still wanted Ssenyondo to continue with the club and how they react to Bbosa’s appointment remains to be seen.

Brian Ssenyondo,

Good thing though is that those who fought Ssenyondo and his staff have been involved in the decision to hire Bbosa and thus will give him all the necessary support.

Another issue Bbosa has to fix is having a starting XI from the over 40 players available at his disposal.

Ssenyondo appeared to struggle naming a consistent team with players benched after one bad game which could have led to loss of confidence in their abilities.

There is also the issue of fans who see Kitara is a world beater and just one bad result calls for them to pile unnecessary pressure on the players, coaches and management.

Is Kitara right to appoint Bbosa?

The decision to appoint Bbosa has split opinion but majority believe he is the right man for the job.

Besides, there weren’t many standout candidates to replace Ssenyondo and though United sounded out other candidates including Matia Lule, Bbosa represented the best option.

He is a winner and comes in with a lot of experience and can ably command the respect of players.
