Hugo Broos has named a 38-man provisional South Africa squad for the crucial Afcon 2025 qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.
The major highlight is the availability of Al Ahly forward Percy Tau who hasn’t featured in the past four qualifying matches including a thrilling 2-2 draw with Uganda in September.
Tau’s return however coincided with the absence of Mamelodi Sundowns star Themba Zwane who captained the side in the absence of Ronwen Williams in the first two matches.
“Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named a 38-player preliminary squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifers against Uganda (away) and South Sudan (at home) to be played in November 2024. The final 23-player list will be named in the coming days.”
Uganda will host Bafana Bafana at Mandela National stadium, Namboole on November 15 before hosting South Sudan on November 19.
South Africa, 1996 winners are in second place in Group K with 8 points, two behind Uganda and need victory to seal place for the Morocco edition.
