Winnipeg Jets at Detroit Red Wings predictions
Despite a loss two nights ago, Kyle Conner dazzled on the ice picking up two goals and as many assists in just over 20 minutes of action. The 27-year-old is off to a blistering start as he has registered at least a point in all nine of Winnipeg’s matches collecting eight goals and six assists.
Josh Morrissey had a Jekyll and Hyde display against the Leafs, as the blueliner was on the ice on four occasions when Toronto hit the back of the net. The 29-year-old did catalog three assists in under 28 minutes of ice time.
Looking human for the first time in his seven starts, Connor Hellebuyck had a night to forget in the blue paint. The American goalie allowed five goals on 35 shots the Maple Leafs peppered toward him. The 31-year-old still ranks in the top 10 in goals against and save percentages in the league with a 2.14 GAA with a .925 save percentage.
The future hall-of-famer Patrick Kane assembled his second multi-point performance of the season in Detroit’s 3-2 OT loss. The 35-year-old picked up two assists adding to his current total of five. In 1239 regular season outings, Kane has stockpiled 1291 career points.
For the time being, the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NHL entry draft, Lucas Raymond is the leading point-getter on this Red Wings squad. The Swedish Left Winger was absent from the stat sheet for the first time in three appearances. Through nine games, Raymond has one goal and seven assists.
Winnipeg Jets at Detroit Red Wings betting tips
Wednesday night we will get to see how Winnipeg will respond coming off a loss against a pesky Detroit side. This bounce-back spot for the Jets has the potential to swing in their favor with their recent dominance over the Red Wings. In their previous 11 matches against Detroit, Winnipeg has obtained eight triumphs. The Wings facing central division opponents, arguably the strongest division in the NHL, have only won in two instances in their forgoing six.
Though the Jets could be the play, we feel the goal total is the stronger play in Wednesday’s skirmish. The total has gone over in five of the last six for the Jets while nine of Detroit’s last 13 have gone over the total including four of their last six games played at Little Caesars. Winnipeg are scoring at will averaging 4.44 goals per game and the Wings on defence are averaging 3.11 goals against.
