Lugazi FC put up a remarkable performance to overcome NEC FC as the two teams faced off on Wednesday.

In the game played at the Lugazi Stadium in Najjembe, the home side secured a 1-0 win over high flying NEC FC.

The game was the first for new head coach Steven Bogere who replaced Sadiq Ssempigi.

The Leaders had a torrid start to the season but they have been in recovery mode for the last two games.

Last week, the team under the tutorship of Oliver Mbekeka who was interim coach secured their first win of the season, defeating Express FC.

In today’s game, the decisive moment came in the 70th minute when Sam Ssemugugu won possession from NEC FC captain Ibrahim Kiyemba at the centre line.

Ssemugugu raced all the way to the box before firing a ferocious strike past goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo.

The result takes Lugazi FC to 11th place on eight points while NEC FC remain second on the table with 15 points.
