Angel Reese has been keeping herself busy during the WNBA offseason.
The women’s basketball superstar recently signed up to a rival offseason league to the WNBA and has been spotted at numerous sporting events.
In fact, the Chicago Sky phenom, drafted with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, has become something of a good luck charm for home teams.
Reese was in attendance for the Chicago Bulls‘ 102-99 win over the Orlando Magic at the United Center on Wednesday night.
With the victory, home teams are now 6-0 with Reese in attendance, something the 6-foot-3-inch star is happy to boast about.
“another one, THANK YOUUUU,” Reese said on X while acknowledging the streak.
The Chicago resident was in the house for Caleb Williams and the Bears’ NFL Week 5 win over the Carolina Panthers.
The 22-year-old Maryland native has also attended two games for the Baltimore Ravens this season, where the team went 2-0, beating the Buffalo Bills and Washington Commanders.
Reese was also inside SoFi Stadium to see the Los Angeles Rams beat the San Francisco 49ers and was in the Big Apple to watch the New York Liberty win Game 5 of the WNBA finals against the Minnesota Lynx to seal the title.
After going 6-0 in home games, fans of various teams are clamouring for the basketball star to be in attendance for their upcoming contests.
“Yep need you at LSU next weekend,” one fan said.
“I need her to show up a Colts game next. We need all the help we can get,” another added.
Reese, along with Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark, set the WNBA on fire last season.
She set WNBA rookie season record for most double-doubles (26) and set the WNBA single-season record for most consecutive double-doubles (15).
The 22-year-old was a star in college but her celebrity has skyrocketed over the last year and now she has own popular podcast, ‘Unapologetically Angel’.
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, who has been a mentor for Reese throughout her career, was a recent guest on the pod.
At one stage in the conversation, the LSU alums discussed the changes around NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness), which have proven to be a game-changer for student-athletes like Livvy Dunne and Sheduer Sanders.
New legislation was enacted in 2021 allowing student-athletes like Reese to be able to cash in on endorsements and their own personal brands for the first time in NCAA history.
Reese was a big beneficiary of the radical policy change and has a number off lucrative NIL deals with brands including Reebok, Beats by Dre, Airbnb, Tampax, and Topps.
She also has brand deals with Hershey’s Reese’s Pieces and Beats by Dr. Dre that have enabled her to accumulate a net worth of around $2 million, despite her annual rookie salary of $73,439.
Shaq’s college years long proceeded the recent NIL change, meaning he was unable to capitalize on his giant personal brand the way many of the new generation of student-athletes are able to.
Even though ‘The Big Aristotle’ made hundreds of millions of dollars in the NBA, he admitted he’s ‘jealous’ of how much today’s college stars are able to make before turning pro.
“I’m jealous [of NIL money] and I’m p***** off,” the four-time NBA champion told Reese.
“They owe me a lot of money.
“But I’m happy for these kids. I just hope they’re smart with it.
“A guy asked me the other day, ‘what if you would have made $3 million? [in college]’”.
“I probably would have broke my parents off a million, I would have kept $500,000, and I would have put the rest away.
“And that would have kept me hungry.”
Fortunately for Shaq, it all worked out in the end.
The 7ft legend played for six different teams over his 19-year NBA career and made $286,344,668 in career earnings.
He has a laundry list of commercial deals and endorsements, too, most notably with Pepsi, Carnival Cruise Line, and Reebok.
As a result, he has an estimated net worth of $500 million.
