Buganda Masaza Cup final 2024: Fans assured of tranquility, maximum security

2024 Buganda Masaza Cup final climax:

Saturday, 2nd November

  • Final: Buddu Vs Kyaggwe (3 pm)
  • Third place match: Kyaddondo Vs Buweekula (11 am)
  • Venue: Mandela National Stadium, Namboole

The fans who will attend the 2024 Buganda Masaza Cup tournament climax have been assured of maximum security prior to, during and after the fiesta.

Two matches will climax this year’s tournament with the early kick-off between Buweekula and Kyaddondo battling for their third place at 10 am.

The grand finale is between two-time champions Buddu and Kyaggwe, kicking off at 3 PM.

A mammoth crowd is anticipated to throng Mandela National Stadium, Namboole for the climax of this championship that has been played for the past three months.

In a bid to ensure a smooth flow of operations before the climax, during and after, several safety and security precautions have been put in place.

On Thursday, 31st October 2024, at Bulange, Mengo; the minister of sports, youth and arts in the Buganda Kingdom Owek. Robert Sserwanga addressed the media about the preparations.

“We are excited as we look forward the two final matches (third place and final). We need life and therefore have to be cautious as we cheer our teams at Namboole Stadium. We have to follow the set guidelines to the dot” Owek. Sserwanga noted.

Owek. Sserwanga was flanked by some members of the local organizing committee, Kabaka Protection Unit officer and Luke Owoyesigyire, the Assistant Superintendent of Police and also the Deputy Police Spokesperson, Kampala Metropolitan.

Owoyesigyire gave an update on the traffic plan and general security

“There is a detailed traffic plan in place to control the follow of cars and passengers. Traffic officers will be deployed at all road leading to the stadium. We expect no use of lorries to transport fans. Fans are expected to use private cars, taxis, coasters and buses. No passengers are allowed on top of the cars. There will be no parking of boda bodas by the road-side.” Owoyesigyire remarked.

He also outlined the general security plan with fans urged to avoid moving with bottles, sharp objects and other metallic objects that could be dangerous to others.

He also hinted about the health concerns with the availability of ambulances to help address emergencies.
