Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion predictions
Just three days after these two teams met in the EFL Cup, Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion will renew acquaintances in the Premier League this weekend.
The pair served up an entertaining affair on Wednesday night, with Liverpool edging out their hosts 3-2.
All five goals came in the second half. Within seconds of the restart after the interval, Cody Gakpo gave Liverpool the lead, before doubling it in the 63rd minute.
Simon Adingra halved the deficit in the 81st, before Luis Diaz restored Liverpool’s two-goal cushion soon after. There was still time for Tariq Lamptey to give the hosts hope, but the Reds held on for the win that booked their place in the quarter-finals.
As expected, both managers shuffled their packs in midweek. Aside from those sidelined through injury, we will see Liverpool and Brighton line up with their strongest available XIs on Saturday.
Liverpool will be looking to stay in close proximity to Manchester City, who moved into top spot last weekend. As things stand there is just one point separating the defending champions from Arne Slot’s side.
Liverpool’s start to the season has convinced many that they are capable of mounting a genuine title tilt after all. A transition year was expected following Jurgen Klopp’s departure, but Slot has managed to get his ideas across quickly.
Liverpool are not as thrilling to watch as they were under Klopp, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Slot’s side are adept at controlling games, and they have shown grit and resilience too.
Take last weekend’s game against Arsenal. Liverpool were second best in the first half at the Emirates Stadium, but they twice came from behind to depart with a point that could prove to be valuable come the end of the campaign. However, Slot is understandably keen to talk down his team’s chances of finishing atop the pile.
“Can you get a result in a difficult away game as this one?” he told Sky Sports. “The way we did it pleased me a lot. The way we can compete with such a strong Arsenal team in their stadium is pleasing to see. But where that ends up leading to, I can’t say.”
Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion betting tips
Liverpool host Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League this weekend after the duo recently met in the EFL Cup.
Liverpool to win and both teams to score
Even with Brighton and Liverpool naming weakened teams on Wednesday, it was no surprise to see a high-scoring affair on the south coast.
Brighton will not be timid at Anfield. This is a team that seeks to play on the front foot and have a large share of the ball no matter who they are up against.
Brighton rank fourth for possession in the Premier League, while Liverpool are third. Albion may have less of the ball than usual here, but they are capable of taking it away from the Reds for extended periods.

Yet Slot’s team have a useful knack for picking up results even when they are not playing well. That is not to say Liverpool’s performance will be below par on Saturday, but they have shown that they know how to get the job done come what may.
We anticipate goals at both ends at Anfield, but Liverpool should edge it just like they did at the Amex Stadium.
Back Liverpool to win and both teams to score at 8/5 with bet365
Under 11 corners
A niche pick, perhaps, but this wager looks like fantastic value when you consider there were only eight corners in Wednesday’s meeting between the pair.
These two teams predominantly attack down the middle of the pitch. Both Slot and Fabian Hurzeler prioritise possession, so we should see plenty of patient play from Liverpool and Brighton.
Indeed, this is unlikely to be the sort of end-to-end encounter which might lead to more crosses into the box and more shots from distance, both of which tend to increase the corner count.
At the odds available, it is worth a flutter on a bet that would have paid out in four of the last five games involving Liverpool and Brighton.

Mohamed Salah to score any time
To the surprise of no one, Mohamed Salah began the EFL Cup fourth-round tie against Brighton on the bench.
He featured for the final 20 minutes after replacing Gakpo, but Salah should still be relatively fresh for Saturday’s match.
Only Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer, Bryan Mbeumo and Chris Wood have scored more goals than the Egypt international so far this season.
Salah has also found the net in each of his last three appearances at Anfield in all competitions.
There is a very good chance Liverpool’s No.11 will make it four in a row against Brighton.
Choose Mohamed Salah to score any time at 10/11 with bet365
