Nate Diaz promised a fan his autograph under one condition – he scrapped with him first.
The UFC legend, famous for his bouts with Conor McGregor and former BMF Jorge Masvidal, recently shared a video of himself ‘street fighting’ a fan who approached him and asked him to sign a pair of fight gloves.
“This dude pulled up on me to sign these gloves, so I made him fight me,” Diaz says in the clip posted to his Instagram story.
“He lost tho. Shoutout to homie he was down to fight”.
Diaz and the fan engaged in some casual striking before the beloved Stockton native took his opponent down to the ground.
He then ‘finished’ his opponent with some patented ground and pound before helping the fan — who was laughing throughout — back up to his feet.
MMA enthusiasts were loving the exchange and praised Diaz for taking the time to share a cool moment with a fan.
“Nate is a real one with his fans,” one person wrote on X.
“So cool. Kid will never forget that,” a second commented.
“Great guy,” a third added.
“Love to see this type of gesture from Nate Diaz, thank u so much for making us happy inside and outside the ring, GOAT” a fourth weighed in with.
Diaz has not stepped foot inside the UFC octagon since September 2022 when he submitted Tony Ferguson in the fourth round of their UFC 279 main event.
The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner opted to not re-sign with the UFC before the bout with Ferguson, thus making him a free agent once the fight concluded.
Following his departure from the promotion, the 39-year-old made his boxing debut last year against YouTuber-turned-boxed Jake Paul.
Diaz suffered a unanimous decision loss to ‘The Problem Child’, who now faces Mike Tyson in a bout at AT&T Stadium on November 15.
Diaz, whose older Nick is set to make his UFC return next month at UFC 310 against Vicente Luque, returned to the boxing ring in July this year to face former UFC foe Masvidal.
He secured a majority decision win to claim his first professional boxing victory.
More recently, the 15-year UFC veteran was spotted inside a Greggs in Newcastle, where he ordered himself a vegan sausage roll.
Diaz was in the North East to support his teammate Chris Avila, who lost against Benson Henderson by unanimous decision on KSI’s Misfits Boxing card.
Diaz is currently without an opponent, but he certainly won’t be short of options.
Both he and McGregor have expressed an interest in making their trilogy bout happen, but so far it’s yet to materialise.
For now, Diaz is taking some well-deserved time out, engaging with fans, before likely announcing his next move.
