Blues to pile more misery on the Gunners
After two games without a victory, Chelsea bounced back to winning ways with a resounding 8-0 home victory over Noah in the Conference League on Thursday, extending their perfect start to the league phase.
While the Blues have been inconsistent on their travels, they have been excellent at Stamford Bridge with six wins, two draws and just one defeat recorded from their nine fixtures.
That sole loss came on the opening weekend of the season against Manchester City and Maresca’s side have improved since then, with the former Leicester City boss getting a handle on his squad.
Chelsea now host an Arsenal side that have lost their last two matches 1-0, going down at Newcastle and then Inter Milan, and it is this poor away form that is costing them.
The Gunners have lost three of their last four away contests and have won just once in their last six road assignments, which makes it hard to back them with any confidence heading into Sunday’s clash.
Saka to let fly
England international Bukayo Saka continues to be a leading light for the Gunners and he has scored three goals in the league, leaving just Kai Havertz ahead of him in the club’s scoring charts.
Although the 23-year-old hasn’t found the back of the net in his last three matches, he has been getting into good attacking positions and has had eight attempts across his last four games.
Exactly half of those shots have ended up on target, including two in the defeat at Inter last time out, and Saka looks capable of testing the Chelsea stopper at least twice on Sunday.
Disasi could notch at big odds
There are plenty of attacking options for both sides to choose from for this clash, but it could prove worthwhile looking at Chelsea defender Axel Disasi to find the back of the net at any time.
Of the 11 goals Arsenal have conceded in the league this season, four of those have come from set-pieces and the Blues could expose that weakness once again.
Chelsea have scored three times from set-pieces in the top flight this term and Disasi will be hoping he retains his starting spot from Thursday’s win over Noah, a game he netted the third goal in.
