Its first versus second in the Uganda Premier League this Saturday as KCCA make a trip to St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende in arguably the biggest game in terms of title favourites for the 2024/25 season.

Both teams come into the clash in scintillating form with Vipers on a run of four successive wins while KCCA are unbeaten so far.

Here are the key battles which could define the game at Kitende

John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda vs Abdallah Mubiru

The two spent a lot of time working together with Ayala the assistant to Mubiru at various clubs including KCCA and Vipers.

Ayala has since evolved and stood on his own and thus the two understand each other in and out in terms of personality and tactics.

In what was the first time to face in different dugouts last season, either won at home with Wakiso Giants beating KCCA 2-1 at Wakisha before they returned the favour in the fixture at Lugogo that the Kasasiro won 4-0.

Who will come out on top in a more gigantic clash? For many, eyes will be in the dugout than the pitch.

Allan Okello vs Joel Sserujongi

The KCCA academy product is finally enjoying his game, plays with a smile and is the star of the team at Kitende.

He is one player that can decide a game in a second with either a goal or deadly pass.

Okello comes up against arguably the most intelligent anchorman in the division in Joel Sserujongi who returns to the team from suspension.

Paul Mbowa vs Bright Anukani

Bright Anukani

From the look of things, Mbowa will play the defensive midfield role instead of defence.

And thanks to that role change, he will be tasked with going head-to-head with ex-teammate Bright Anukani who appears to be reborn at Lugogo and will have a point to prove to the Kitende faithful who never got the best out of him.

Karim Watambala vs Said Mayanja

Two box to box midfielders with nearly same attributes come up against each other in what is expected to be a thrilling and exciting battle.

Karim Watambala

The two have big engines, make timely late runs into scoring areas and have a goal in themselves.

Mayanja is cleverer with playing one-twos while Watambala has the ability to shoot from distance. What a battle!

Hilary Mukundane vs Sadat Anaku

Mukundane has become the best defender at Vipers thanks to his consistency and ability to make quick decisions.

Not good on the eye but very effective with his method of work.

In firing line should be Anaku who made his second debut for the Kasasiro with a goal against Maroons.

Anaku is powerful, has pace and makes clever runs behind defenders but Mukundane could be having an antidote to stop all this.

Elsewhere, Milton Karisa and Yunus Sentamu will ask lots of questions to the backline of Mustafa Mujjuzi and Mohamud while expect thrilling battles between Vipers fullbacks Grant Matsiko and Derrick Ndahiro against either of Ettiene Katenga, Usama Arafat and youngster Shafik Nana Kwikiriza.
