Manchester United are keen to reunite Ruben Amorim with a Sporting wonderkid, talkSPORT understands.
The new Red Devils boss will take charge of his first match after the international break.
United are already looking to support Amorim in the transfer market, though.
An enquiry is understood to have been made to Sporting for winger Geovany Quenda.
The 17-year-old is also wanted by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Quenda was handed his senior debut by Amorim back in August and has since made 18 first-team appearances.
Across those matches, the teenager has scored twice and provided two assists for his teammates.
The youngster appeared on the right side of midfield in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 formation.
He played the full 90 minutes in the outgoing boss’ final match in charge on Sunday.
Sporting came back from 2-0 down to beat Braga 4-2 away from home, maintaining their 100 per cent league record this term.
Meanwhile, Quenda has been capped by Portugal at under-17 and under-21 level.
He was also called up to the senior squad in September, appearing on the bench against Scotland in the Nations League.
As for Amorim, he was appointed as Erik ten Hag’s successor on November 1.
He had been set to officially start his role as United manager on Monday, but his arrival has been delayed whilst he waits for a work permit.
Amorim was not planning to take training for the first time until next week, though, due to the international break.
His first match as manager will see the Red Devils face Ipswich at Portman Road on November 24.
Man United are currently 13th in the Premier League with 15 points from their opening 11 matches.
