Time immemorial, the football fortress at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo has witnessed a number of high profile domestic and international engagements.

Most of these contests have been explosive, mouth-watering, epic, fast-paced, tactical and highly competitive.

These matches have ranged from the international engagements involving the national teams, clubs on continental tournaments, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, second tier FUFA Big League, women league games, regional league duels, Bika, Masaza and mere friendly contests.

This coming Sunday (17th November 2024); a friendly match between social media experts on X (formerly Twitter) and Tiktok will be the spiced-up dish served to the football spectators.

These two groups of personalities will temporarily lay down their gadgets of operation ranging from mobile phones, tablets, laptops and desk-tops to settle their football egos.

The fancy ball control techniques, dribbles, ball passing finesse, take-overs, shooting skills will be on display, taking over the twitter posts, spaces and tik-tok videos, at least at the moment.

It will be total football language to replace the trending topics as Equatorial Guinea’s infamous sex pest Baltasar Engonga, US president elect Donald Trump, the coffee subject in Uganda’s Parliament, the bummy Gloria Buggie, Uganda Cranes, Naye Talk and the like.

This is one match that will definitely leave spectators on their toes, off their seats as they cheer the touches on the ball, dummies, no look passes, diagonal crosses and of-course the goals.

It goes without a saying, there will be a fraction of spectators on the sidelines to promote the contest on social media to make it the number one trending subject on the evening under the hash-tag “Tukolelabantu”.

By close of business, there will surely be a winner to take home the glittering trophy and gold medals home with the silvers for the losing team.

Like fate would dictate, the trophy and medals have been facilitated by Gracy Minds Empowerment Initiative Uganda, a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting mental health through compassionate psycho-social support, focusing on schools and communities, sports and addiction.

Keith Namu, boosting of an enviable 34,000 plus followers on Twitter is among the brains behind this contest alongside the Tik-tok family in Uganda.
