Jadon Sancho has hailed Chelsea teenager Tyrique George as the club’s next up and coming star following his first start for the Blues.

The 18-year-old winger earned a call-up to the senior squad after impressing at Under-21 level and may be the next young player out of west London to make a storm.

George has made five first-team appearances since his promotion to the senior squad, but made his first start against Noah in the Europa Conference League – in the Premier League side’s stunning 8-0 win.

Chelsea highlighted the career landmark for their young star, and in reply Sancho posted on X: “Tyrique has the world at his feet, top guy and such a humble human being.

“Deserves every bit of success coming his way! See you at training on Monday bro.”

It was a full circle moment for George, as he and Sancho were pictured together when he was just a young boy.

The former Borussia Dortmund star added: “We definitely recreating this picture.”

George made his senior Chelsea debut in the Conference League earlier this season against Swiss side Servette, having come off the bench.

“It was a surreal feeling, really,” said the teen ace. “I couldn’t really explain the feeling. Really excited.

“To be honest when Enzo [Maresca] told me I was coming on at like 60 [minutes] I didn’t think it was going to happen.

“And then when he called me over to say you’re coming on. Being here at the age of eight and then make my debut, it’s a dream come true really. It felt really good.

“I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself because then I start to do different things. Of course there’s a bit of excitement, nerves as well.”

When asked about playing with Sancho, he replied: “It’s crazy. Even like shaking his hand and stuff, when I’ve known him since that picture.”

George has yet to make a Premier League appearance, but has played seven games in Premier League 2 this season, managing one goal and four assists.

Last campaign he boasted even better stats with 14 goals and ten assists in 34 matches across all competitions.

The versatile player has been positioned as a No.10, striker and winger on both sides.

He has also represented England from the Under-16s to the Under-19s where he made his debut in September this year against Italy.

Sancho knows how it feels to be a young talent with heavy expectations on you.

He picked up notoriety at the Manchester City academy, which followed him to Germany with Dortmund where he eventually became a star.

One who had a £73million price tag put on him as Manchester United secured his signature in 2021.
