Dillian Whyte will be back in the ring against Ebenezer Tetteh on December 15.
The former heavyweight world title challenger has been an outcast from the big-time boxing picture since failing a pre-fight drugs test before his proposed rematch with Anthony Joshua in August 2023.
The fight was cancelled and Robert Helenius stepped in for Whyte on short notice to save the card.
AJ knocked him out in seven rounds, then went on to beat Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou before being KO’d himself by Daniel Dubois in September.
As for Whyte, his status with the British Boxing Board of Control has been unclear ever since.
He held a licence with the Texas Commission (who cleared him after the positive drugs test), and was initially going to be granted approval by the BBBofC to use that foreign licence for the AJ rematch.
However, the positive drugs test impacted this situation.
Whyte has only returned to the ring once and this was outside of the BBBofC’s jurisdiction.
He stopped Christian Hammer in March in Ireland under the auspices of the Boxing Union of Ireland.
Whyte has now scheduled his next contest against Tetteh in Gibraltar.
At present it is unknown who will sanction the contest.
Whyte has fought in Gibraltar before as his rematch with Alexander Povetkin took place there in 2021.
Tetteh is a little-known Ghanaian who has only fought outside of Africa once.
In 2019, he came to the UK to take on Daniel Dubois, who is now the IBF heavyweight world champion.
He was knocked out in round one by Dubois, but has won every other fight and holds a record of 23-1 (20 KOs).
