The New York Jets are cleaning house.

Six weeks after Robert Saleh was sacked as head coach, one of the NFL’s most disappointing teams has axed its general manager.

The Jets fired Joe Douglas on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

That leaves New York with an interim head coach and no full-time GM, while the Jets are 3-8 and almost eliminated from the playoffs before play begins in Week 12.

There are mounting questions about Rodgers’ NFL future, with many wondering if the 40-year-old quarterback will retire after the 2024 season.

For now, it appears one man is in charge of the Jets, given he’s outlasted Saleh and Douglas.

Aaron Rodgers is the GM,” one fan tweeted as news of the firing emerged.

The Jets were supposed to be a Super Bowl contender after a blockbuster trade for Rodgers in April 2023 from the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers, though, barely played last season and has statistically been one of the NFL’s worst QBs this year.

A 28-27 home defeat to the Indianapolis Colts was another low point for the Jets, who are 10-18 since giving up three draft picks, including a first-rounder, to acquire Rodgers.

The expected future Hall of Famer was outplayed by second-year QB Anthony Richardson, while New York blew a late fourth-quarter lead.

“I mean, it’s disappointing,” Rodgers said.

“I know I’ve said that three times now, but we’ve been working really hard trying to figure out what the issues are.

“It’s not just one person. Sometimes it’s me, sometimes it’s somebody else.”

Rodgers has a win percentage of .273 as the Jets’ starter, which places him below Zach Wilson and Sam Darnold.

Wilson posted a 12-21 record (.364) as the team’s starter, with Darnold at 13-25 (.342).

Rodgers is a four-time MVP and won a Super Bowl with the Packers.

But he barely took the field during his initial season with the Jets and spent the 2024 offseason bickering with the team about missing preseason time.

His second season has been even worse, with the Jets firing their head coach and GM, while Rodgers has often appeared unmotivated.

He received a three-year, $112 million contract to lead New York to the Super Bowl.

While the Detroit Lions are serious contenders, the Jets are on the verge of rebuilding again.
