  • WINCANTON
    1.45: Tinklers Hill 5/4 (1pt)

Little Miss Dante

Little Miss Dante is favourite for this and it’s no surprise really with her potential and dropping into this class 3.

All the while her trainer and jockey are in terrific form which suggests she can justify her favouritism.

She was close in a novice listed race back in December but hasn’t quite shown that form since, as she was pulled up twice in subsequent races – a Grade 2 and another listed contest at Cheltenham.

For the Grade 2 she was only 100/30 but should be able to run better in what will be her second run of the season and her second outing since having a wind op, which often sees the most improvement.

That run last time out was also crucial as she hadn’t finished a race since December of 2023 so it’s all positive signs coming into this.

Eldorado Allen

This race is a very interesting one, the veteran’s handicap chase which features 150-rated Eldorado Allen who carries 25lb more than the next in the betting, Torn And Frayed.

Rapper could have a chance given his second place finish just a few months ago in February at Ascot in a Grade 3, but has since fallen, placed 17th and then finished a distant third on reappearance this season in another veterans chase.

That race also saw Torn And Frayed lose by quite a distance having been 15/8 favourite, so is also tough to back here.

Eldorado Allen hasn’t won since February 2022 but was last seen when a distant 20th in the Grand National having also been pulled up in the Ultima the month before.

He went for another wind op in August, to follow the one he had in January, in order to hopefully put right his below par form over the last season.

In April 2023 he was a decent fourth behind Hewick, but also looked outclassed in many of his races in the 2022/23 campaign and the handicapper has been cautious to lower him much.

But he’s down another 3lb here, fresh and can follow up on what were some solid races at the start of last season.

Tinklers Hill

Tinklers Hill’s bumper form is one to consider given Supremely West finished ahead of him and Emailandy just behind.

Though this gelding made his hurdle debut back in November of last year and hasn’t been seen since after what was a disappointing debut as the 2/1 favourite.

He finished third but did finish 19 lengths behind Canty Bay who has a rating of 122 over hurdles now.

Clearly to keep him off the track for so long there must be a bit of confidence in this horse to bring him back and he’s given 7lb from Ambion View, who is just about the favourite at the time of writing.

That gelding arrives from in-form Joe Tizzard yard who won by a short head last month at Exeter on hurdle debut, beating Ace Of Spades in second who went on to win the maiden hurdle at the November Meeting.

It’s easy to read into that form as the winner with plenty more up his sleeve, but it’s still hard to judge what he beat in the maiden hurdle.

Given Tinklers Hill return, form and weight he looks the smarter bet at 5/4 for a similarly in-form yard of Paul Nicholls.

Irish Hill

Pyffo looks to be the main danger to the favourite Irish Hill.

He won two in a row in June, benefitting at least from the second time running off the same mark as when he won at Fontwell.

He was upped 5lb for that win at Uttoxeter which really did confirm his ability as he stepped in to handicap company for the first time in a field of 13.

But next time out in July finished a distant fourth of 13 and has taken a small break to reappear for the first time this jumps season, switching to Harry Derham’s yard in that time.

Irish Hill on the other hand, won quite takingly at Plumpton earlier this month ahead of Mark Of Gold.

He’s now back to the same mark he was at various stages last season and still lower than when making his seasonal debut.

Still has bags of form and it’s easy to forget he’s only six-years-old as he’s already been seen over hurdles 21 times.

Should make all here after bouncing back last time out in fine style.
