Table leaders KCCA could do without several key players when they host Lugogo rivals NEC at the MTN Omondi stadium on Thursday.
The Kasasiro are already without suspended goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa and defensive kingpin Hassan Muhamad as well as injured Derrick Nsibambi and it remains to be seen whether the Uganda Cranes trio of Gavin Kizito, Shafik Nana Kwikiriza and Said Mayanja will be available for selection.
They are set to jet in in the wee hours of Thursday and whether Abdallah Mubiru includes them in his plans remains a mystery.
NEC coach Hussein Mbalangu has described the Kasasiro as a very balanced team that is where they are deservedly.
“When you look at the stats, they (KCCA) score a lot and are very good defensively so we must be clinical at both ends,” said Mbalangu. “I want to commend Abdallah Mubiru for the job well done to bring back the status of the club from where Mike Mutebi left it,” he added.
With two points separating the two sides, Mbalangu understands that a win will take them back to the summit.
KCCA lead on 18 points after 8 matches and victory will mean keeping that spot until at least the next match day.
NEC will most likely continue to miss Joseph Dhata as well as Allan Mugalu, Patrick Bayiga, Cromwell Rwothomio and Ibrahim Thembo through injury.
Ex-KCCA players Paul Mucureezi, Muzamir Mutyaba and Benjamin Ochan could line up against their former pay masters.
