Ireland will be looking for their second win of the Autumn Nations Series on Saturday against a Fiji side in confident mood after winning their last two matches.
Andy Farrell’s side got back to winning ways after defeat to New Zealand in their Autumn opener, bouncing back with a narrow 22-19 victory over Argentina last Friday night.
The back-to-back Six Nations champions climbed back into the top two of the IRB world rankings with last weekend’s victory, trailing only the winner of the last two Rugby World Cups, South Africa.
Ireland’s 20-match winning streak at the Aviva Stadium came to an end at the start of the month with defeat to the All Blacks, but Farrell and his side will be looking to recover with back to back victories on Saturday.
Fiji are the visitors to Dublin on Saturday, who started their Autumn Nations Series campaign on the wrong end of a 57-17 thrashing by Scotland in Edinburgh, though with the majority of their current squad unavailable for selection for the game as it was outside the international window.
Prior to their European tour, Mick Byrne’s side were crowned Pacific Nations champions for the second year running after beating hosts Japan 41-17 in the final in September.
The Pacific island nation have recovered from their defeat against Scotland by recording back to back victories, notably securing their first ever away win against Wales, before winning comfortably in Valladolid against Spain last weekend.
Ireland have won all five of their previous matches against Fiji, the most recent of which came two years ago when the home side ran out 35-17 winners in Dublin.
