Abdallah Mubiru admits the defeat to NEC that ended his side’s unbeaten start to the season is a setback but promised a reaction.

The Kasasiro succumbed to a brilliant strike from old boy Muzamir Mutyaba and relinquished top spot to Hussein Mbalangu’s men who are now on 19 points, one better than KCCA.

“It is a setback,” Mubiru told reporters. “But we shall bounce back stronger because the league has not been won or lost today,” he added.

“There are still lots of points to play for and focus now turns to games ahead.”

The gaffer also believes his side were better on the day but couldn’t convert the opportunities they created.

“I don’t think we played poorly. We attacked, created chances but somehow, things didn’t work out in the final third and I don’t blame anyone. It was simply not our day because the opponent got one opportunity and they scored. Congratulations to them.”

Asked whether he felt playing Gavin Kizito and Said Mayanja who had arrived in the wee hours on Friday from Congo with the national team was a mistake that haunt his side, Mubiru differed.

“They gave us what they could and I don’t regret fielding them.”

KCCA’s next task is away to Lugazi FC on November 30 at Najjembe.
