New York City FC have sacked Nick Cushing, paving the way for him to take over at Arsenal Women.
Cushing departs the Major League Soccer (MLS) side after they crashed out of the semi-finals in the Eastern Conference playoffs to bitter crosstown rivals New York Red Bulls.
With Cushing now a free agent, it puts him in the frame for the Arsenal Women vacancy.
Cushing has experience in women’s football having managed Manchester City Women for nearly seven years.
During that time, Cushing led them to a Women’s Super League title, an FA Women’s Cup and two FA Women’s League Cups.
