City Oilers secured a well-deserved 77-47 victory against Fox Basketball in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) Elite 16 tournament at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi on Thursday.
Uganda’s representatives started the campaign on a positive note with an easily earned victory against Fox Basketball.
City Oilers opened an 18-point lead (24-6) at the end of the opening period.
Despite a strong fight from Fox Basketball, City Oilers maintained a 23-point lead (44-21) going into the long break.
Coming from the locker rooms, either side was pumped up as they increased pace and vibe to bring the crowd in full voice.
City Oilers extended their lead to 31 points (65-34) at the end of the third period of the game.
The Oilers’ head coach Andrew Tendo introduced Rogers Dauna, Benjamin Kawuni, Allan Ssenkubuge and teenager Waleed Ali in the final period to seal the assignment.
City Oilers claimed a well-orchestrated win with 30 points at the end of four end-to-end periods.
Germaine Roebuck led the City Oilers’ scoring chart with 20 points, five rebounds and two assists.
Israel Oyoro (13 points), Petty Parish (12 points) and Falando Jones (11 points) also contributed to the City Oilers’ triumph in double figures.
For Fox only Stephen Garbrah managed to reach double digits with 11 points.
The two sides return to action tomorrow as Fox take on Urunani at 12:30 while City Oilers will face off Matero Magic at 15:00.
