City Oilers secured a spot in the semifinals of the ongoing Basketball Africa League (BAL) tournament happening in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Oilers registered a 93-73 victory against Matero Magic in the thrilling encounter at Nyayo Stadium.
The opening period was close as the Oilers opened a three-point lead (18-15) to set a perfect tone for the game.
City Oilers suffered a big blow as Germaine Roebuck Jr was forced off the floor to an injury.
However, the Oilers maintained the eight-point lead (41-33) going into the long break.
Andrew Tendo’s troops came from the locker rooms energised and opened a 16-point lead (68-52) at the end of the third period.
It was one-way traffic in the final period of the game as City Oilers bagged bragging rights with a margin of 20 points.
Parish Petty led City Oilers’ scoring chart with 25 points as Falando Jones (16 points), Moses Maker (13 points), Israel Oyoro Otobo (13 points) and Ivan Muhwezi (12 points) contributed in double digits.
On the other hand, Saul Phiri (20 points) and Donovan Lamont Jose (19 points) contributed for Matero Magic in double digits.
City Oilers will conclude the campaign with a tough duel against Burundi’s Urunani on Saturday.
