Real Madrid vs Getafe predictions
Real Madrid currently sit second in La Liga. Los Blancos has 30 points from their 13 matches played.
Their opponents Getafe are 15th in the table with 13 points from 14 matches. The Dark Blues are three points above the drop zone.
On paper, it looks like a mismatch. But it would be foolish to underestimate Getafe.
Under the second spell of manager José Bordalás, Getafe have become a hard to beat team.
Constantly punching above their weight, Getafe have only lost five matches in the Spanish top flight this season, the joint-least number of the lower half of the division.
Getafe’s strength is their defence. They have only conceded 11 times in La Liga this season (the same amount as Real).
The trade off is at the other end of the pitch. Along with bottom-of-the-table Valladolid, Getafe are the lowest scorers in the division with just ten goals in 14 games.
In their last five La Liga matches, the Dark Blues have won one, drawn two and lost two. They finally ended a five match run without a win last Friday, with a 2-0 home win over Valladolid.
Getafe then backed their 3 points up with a 3-0 win away at Manises in the preliminary round of the Copa del Rey on Tuesday. Without meaning any disrespect to the footballing abilities of Manises, they are a sixth-tier team.
Whether that’s a sufficient warm up for a match against Los Blancos remains to be seen.
Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted his team is not in a good place.
In their most recent outing, they lost 2-0 in the Champions League away at Liverpool on Wednesday. Madrid were comfortably second best on the night.
Los Blancos now sit 24th in the Champions League table, taking up the final qualification knockout position.
There are positives to take, though.
Madrid may not have clicked yet, but it is still early enough in the season for them to come good.
They are going through their bad patch now. But what’s the betting they look a completely different team at the business end of the campaign.
They have also been thrown a huge lifeline in La Liga by Barcelona dropping five points in their last two matches.
Meaning, despite not looking anywhere near their best, Madrid is now only four points behind Barcelona with a game in hand.
They have also won four of their last five in La Liga, scoring seven goals in their last two matches.
Injuries could be a problem, though.
Real are still without long term absentees Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Eder Militao. Joining them in the treatment room is Eduardo Camavinga and Vinicius Jr. The latter will be a huge loss.
Aurelien Tchouameni and Rodrygo are close to returning, but it’s still not certain if they will be ready to face Getafe.
The one major positive on the injury front has been the return of Thibaut Courtois.
The influential keeper returned to the team against Leganes last Sunday. He wasn’t really tested in the 3-0 win. But he certainly was in the 2-0 loss against Liverpool, where he looked as solid as ever.
His presence will be a major plus point moving forward.

Real Madrid vs Getafe betting tips
Real Madrid has been grinding out results for weeks now. On Sunday they will face a very attritional team in Getafe, who will be very stubborn and hard to beat.
But the problem the visitors have is they don’t score many goals. Madrid may have to work hard to break them down, and despite their injury list, they have a vast array of talent who can put the ball in the back of the net.
We say Los Blancos will find a way to win. Our Real Madrid v Getafe betting tips can be found below:
Real Madrid (-1.5) on the handicap
Real has scored 28 goals in 13 La Liga matches this season. They are averaging just over two goals per game.
Leaving aside their 4-0 defeat to Barcelona, Real has won their last two home matches 4-0 and 2-0.
Furthermore, in their six La Liga wins at the Santiago Bernabéu this season they have won five of them by at least two goals.

Getafe will play a defensive game and make it difficult for Los Blancos, but they won’t pose much of a threat going forward.
Los Blancos should have enough quality in their ranks to score at least two goals and win this match with a bit to spare.

Over 2.5 goals
Carrying on from the theme above, over 2.5 goals have been scored in five of Real Madrid’s seven home La Liga matches this season.
Furthermore, the Madrid crowd wants to be entertained. They won’t settle for stuffy 1-0 wins over minnows, no matter how stubborn they may be.
After the result at Liverpool, the Madridistas will expect a reaction. And Getafe could well be the team in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Getafe might not score or concede many, but it’s not often that games involving Real are nearly even money for over 2.5 goals.
We can’t let this chance go without backing it to win.

Kylian Mbappe to score anytime
If ever a man owes his team, it’s Kylian Mbappe after Wednesday night.
Handed a gilt edged chance to get his team level from the penalty spot, Mbappe fluffed his lines with a poor spot kick right within the range of Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher to save.
Furthermore, Mbappe was well below his best on a night to forget at Anfield.
But Madrid didn’t sign the French superstar because he is a poor player. They signed him because he is a top quality striker who can score goals for fun.
What chances he bounces back with a goal on Sunday.
