Tom Aspinall left Joleon Lescott speechless with his breakdown of Jon Jones’ victory at UFC 309.

Jones beat 42-year-old Stipe Miocic inside three rounds during UFC 309’s main event at Madison Square Garden, New York City, in November.

Both men are arguably the two best heavyweights of all time, but it was Aspinall’s name that was discussed most in the buildup to the bout.

The 31-year-old Briton is the current UFC interim heavyweight champion and has been calling for a fight with Jones to unify the division for months now to no avail.

The latter continues to snub the Manchester native and has been insistent on the fact that he would prefer a legacy-defining fight with UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira instead.

Aspinall puts his analysis cap on for Tom Aspinall’s Fight Lab, a show on TNT Sports that previews various UFC events with guests.

He has looked at events like UFC 301 with former world champion boxer Carl Frampton and UFC 302 with ex-Leicester Tigers star Ben Kay.

But a clip circulated on Monday of Aspinall looking into Jones’s win at UFC 309, which he was front row for, alongside former Man City defender Joleon Lescott and Adam Catterall.

“Watch this hand,” Aspinall tells both Lescott and Catterall as he highlights Jones’ right hand on the stand-up with Miocic.

“He constantly distracts you with the lead hand, so he’s keeping you busy with this, before he starts to turn and starts to do these kicks.

“This comes first, it’s the front hand—look. Watch how he just pulls it out before he does anything.

“And he does that every time. He occupies the front hand and then works his attack off it, which is high level fight IQ stuff from Jon Jones, but he’s one of the smartest fighters ever.”

Apsinall is referring to Jones’ constant faints that he does during fights in order to distract his opponents with one shot before following up with a different strike.

Jones expertly achieved this at UFC 309 by teasing Miocic with a right hand before delivering a brutal spinning back kick that ultimately finished his American counterpart.

Aspinall’s analysis was so on point that it left Lescott speechless to the point of laughing at how accurate it was.

MMA fans were quick to the scene and reacted to Aspinall’s analysis on the platform X.

One fan said: “Aspinall is also one of the smartest fighters ever.”

While another added: “Tom has done a lot of studying of Jon and him and his team have probably developed a good game plan to try and beat Jones.

“Too bad we won’t see the execution of his game plan vs Jon because Jon seems to be adamant that he’s not fighting him.

“I hope Jon is trolling about ducking Tom.”

A third responded: “He is the smartest fighter ever. You can’t name a single fighter with higher IQ than Jones in the cage.”

MMA fans are eagerly waiting for UFC President Dana White to announce Jones’ and Aspinall’s next fights.

White said at the UFC 309 press conference that the winner of Jones vs Miocic should “absolutely” fight Aspinall, so it is clear where he stands on the matter.

However, Jones remains consistent with his snubbing of Aspinall, and even went on a viral social media rant in November to say that he was “not ducking” the Brit.

Tom Aspinall‘s Fight Lab with Lescott and Catterall comes out in full on midday Tuesday on TNT Sports.
