Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long aren’t afraid to stand by their opinions.

The popular Fox NFL analysts were in the studio for the Dallas Cowboys‘ win over the New York Giants on Thursday.

A discussion about how the Giants handled Daniel Jones’ exit caused the kind of argument seen at tables up and down the country over the holidays.

“I don’t have a problem with what was said,” Long insisted. “I had a problem that it was done publicly.”

“You do it in the locker room,” he added before going face-to-face with Bradshaw. “I’m going to walk up to you and tell you face to face, ‘You’re soft.’”

The 76-year-old proved he still has some fight in him.

“You’re talking to the wrong guy,” he replied as Curt Menefee jokingly held him back.

Bradshaw then put his hand up to get something off his chest.

“The Cowboys 12-5, 12-5, 12-5, and this year they’re struggling, he said.

“Mike McCarthy deserves to be the head coach. They win today, they win when Cincinnati comes here, they beat Carolina in Carolina.

“They’re now 7-7 and in the playoff hunt.”

Most people had written off the Cowboys with Dak Prescott out of the season.

But part one of Bradshaw’s prediction came in as backup Cooper Rush led a 27-20 triumph over the hapless Giants.

The Bengals visit AT&T Stadium on Monday Night Football off the back of giving up 41 points in a shootout loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If Dallas’ defense – boosted by Micah Parsons’ return – can rein in Joe Burrow, the Cowboys can take advantage of Cincinnati’s uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory this season.

McCarthy believes that a three-day rest advantage could prove key.

“This is where we wanted to be. This week, getting these two wins, the way we break the season down, this will be the third semester,” he said.

“The way the third semester lays out, we have the next one at home, Carolina was 3-5 at home. The rest might be the most important part of the schedule.

“If you just look at what we’ve been dealing with, rest and recovery will really help us. The schedule is set up for our players to be on a bye week.

“They have some responsibility on Monday, we’ll do a later start on Wednesday.

“I do want them to get away, get their batteries charged, and be ready to go. We are going to have to play our best football, clearly, in front of us.”

As for the Panthers, Bryce Young played arguably the best games of his career in back-to-back narrow defeats to the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In the Cowboys’ division, the Philadelphia Eagles are siting pretty in the NFC East with a 10-2 record.

But the 8-5 Washington Commanders have looked vulnerable despite a 42-19 demolition of the struggling Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

And the Cowboys beat their division rivals on November 24 – in what could prove a decisive victory should their records come in level at the end of the season.
