Ugandan forward Frank Ssebufu has been released by US side New York Red Bulls II following expiry of his contract.
This was confirmed by the club in a communication on their official accounts following the conclusion of the 2024 MLS Next Pro season.
Ssebufu has spent two years with the side managed by ex-Uganda Cranes captain Ibrahim Ssekagya after joining from Wakiso Giants.
“New York declined the option of goalkeeper Dallas Odle, while forward Frank Ssebufu is out of contract,” read part of the statement on the club website.
Meanwhile, Ssebuufu’s compatriots Ibrahim Kasule and Steven Sserwadda who ran their contracts down are negotiating new ones the club has confirmed.
“Midfielder Malick Dembele, forward Ibrahim Kasule, defender Juan Gutierrez, midfielder Rafael Mosquera, midfielder Dylan Sullivan and midfielder Steven Sserwadda are out of contract, but all are negotiating new deals with the club,” the club confirmed.
The next course of action remains a mystery for the lanky Ssebufu several clubs are reportedly interested in his signature.
