The 4th Season of St Kaggwa League concluded on a high note on Saturday night at Timeout Leisure Park in Mbalwa with Chwezi FC (Class of 2007-2012) crowned champions.
Chwezi dominated the season, accumulating 60 points from 24 matches and finishing 17 points ahead of runners-up Majojo FC.
Chwezi’s crowning marked the culmination of months of intense competition during which they demonstrated remarkable teamwork, skill, and strategic acumen and culminated in a well-deserved celebration for players who came together with a shared goal and a deep connection to their alma mater.
The strong defensive duo of Louis Kamugisha and Darius Sabawa were instrumental in keeping the team unbeaten throughout the season while dynamic winger Oni Bashir and the league’s most creative player Jotham Danko alongside top scorer Arafat Ngembya made significant contributions to Chwezi’s success.
Seasoned players like Brighton Amumpaire, Samuel Muhimba, and Odomaro Natwijuka teamed up well with the likes of Seif Abiola and Moses Asiimwe to make an impact in every match and the on-field chemistry was evident.
“I want to recognize the Chwezi players for their outstanding discipline and hard work, both on and off the field. This season has been incredibly challenging and competitive, but the boys’ commitment every single day has led us to victory,” Chwezi FC’s head coach Javira Atusimiire who is also the chief executive of Virat Engineering Ltd, one of the league partners, stated.
Majojo FC claims Fr. Mukama Memorial Tournament
Meanwhile, during the grand finale, the Fr. Evarist Mukama Inaugural Memorial Tournament was held in honour of the school’s former chaplain.
Fr. Mukama passed away in 2018. His commitment to sports, faith, and discipline greatly influenced the St. Kaggwa High School community and this tournament was designed to celebrate his legacy.
In an exciting final match, Majojo FC, the league’s runners-up, narrowly defeated the newly introduced Ekyokya FC to win the tournament.

Desire Arimpa from Divas CF won the Best Fan of the Season award while Chwezi players Nicholas Nuwasiima and Jotham Danko received the Best Goalkeeper and Most Assists awards respectively.
