Bill Belichick has plenty of options on the table.

He is also loving his new vocation in the media and has unfinished business in the NFL.

Belichick is just 14 wins shy of iconic coach Don Shula’s all-time record of 347.

Talk of him taking a college post made quite the splash this week and fans were excited to hear the 72-year-old explain his thought process with Jim Gray on their Let’s Go podcast

“I have an open mind,” he said. “The college game is closer to the pro game than it’s ever been with the new landscape.

“I’ve explored it and we’ll see how it works out. I think it’s a process of exploring what the mutual goals, expectations, and resources are and seeing if its a fit.

“Football at a college or professional level does interest me. I would explore those opportunities as well, see what everybody has to offer, and see what would be the best fit for me in another organization or in the media.”

Belichick insisted there was no timeline on a decision when pressed before welcoming old friend Andy Reid onto the show.

“He’s the greatest and whatever he chooses, he can go to high school, wherever he wants to go, he deserves it,” Reid said. “Whatever makes him happy.

“I think the NFL, though, is missing a great part if he decided he wants to come back.

“He might be enjoying his retirement, he’s done this a long time so he might be enjoying that.”

The Patriots icon stepped down in January but has not shut the door on the NFL[/caption]

Reid said he was enjoying following Belichick’s media career, and said the door would always be open to him in the NFL.

“You’re giving people things that they just can’t get from anybody but you, the way you’re doing it and your experience and I think people are eating that part up,” he added.

“But I also know that you’re a coach, so if you decide to come back, you come back. If you decide you want to stay put, then stay. You’ve already done everything, so you’ve got the freedom to do whatever you want to do.”

Belichick has found one massive positive to his new career.

“Well the good news is Andy, when I go to different cities they don’t throw stuff at me any more,” he joked.

“You’re everybody’s coach,” laughed Reid – giving his pal a nickname that would have been unthinkable a few years ago.

In terms of the biggest honor, Belichick is the winningest head coach in NFL history with six Super Bowls.

Shula only managed two, with Reid sitting on three.

Even Bill did not manage to win three in a row – a feat Reid is chasing this season.

He has had to do it the hard way at times and couldn’t even watch as his third-choice kicker sent over a game-winning field goal on Sunday.
