The curtains for the 2024 MTN monthly tee tournament will majestically be lowered with the season ending MTN Grand Tee of Tees event this Saturday, 14th December at the lake-side par-71 Entebbe club.
A large field of golfers from different clubs in the country are expected to grace the fairways in the grueling action that tees off as early as 7 am.
Whilst the main focus will be on the golfers on the order of merit, the subsidiaries too will be taken into consideration with juicy prizes.
One eye-catching competition will be on the tricky par-3 hole 8 as the golfers will eye the mega prize for the hole-in-one shot (ace); the All New Toyota Land Cruiser (Prado).
For starters, the All New Toyota Land Cruiser is an off-road vehicle with a 2.4L 4 cylinder i-FORCE MAX hybrid power train. It also has a heritage- inspired design with a Toyota heritage front grille, square side mirrors and fender flares.
Hole 8 is remains one of the tricky holes on this course that was founded in 1901; with a tree on the left of the green as one drives off from the tee-box.
The good omen signs could shine on the lucky golfer with the ace shot in a week where professional golfer David “Amooti” Kamulindwa hit a hole-in-one during the Kileleesi grand kwacha grand finale on par-3 hole 16.
Back to the order of merit; there is a stiff competition among the top four female golfers upon who takes the coveted prize.
Entebbe lady captain Jovia Namaara Tugume (575), Pamela Tumusiime (577), Bridget Basiima (580) and Diana Nabukenya (597) are all within reach for the final prize.
For the men, Kirarira Twijukye (558) is a clear cut run away with the top gong.
Perhaps, it will not be a walk in the park as Raymond Ekwamu (570), Mathias “Shoeman” Kalule (571), Richard Oloka (574), Lloyd Busuulwa (576) and Ronald Gayiya (576) are all keeping the faith alive.
The MTN monthly tees have been played since January 2024 with the best scores for the 8 months counting per golfer.
The theme of the day will be “Sunshine at Dusk” with the dress code calling for a touch of yellow.
The mode of play shall be medal, full handicap with a mega prize giving ceremony set to happen at the spacious Entebbe Cricket Oval.
MTN Uganda is the main sponsor of this year-long championship. The co-partners include wtw, cfao by motors and Castle-lite.
