Television ratings are down and 3-pointers are at a record high.

Frustrated NBA fans believe there is a direct connection between the two.

The Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors set an NBA record on Sunday by combining for 48 made 3-pointers.

But what should have been a story about Klay Thompson scoring 29 points, including seven made 3s, against his old team instead became a referendum on the declining state of pro basketball.

The Mavs and Warriors shot 95 total 3s during Dallas’ 143-133 victory.

That was half of the overall field goals (190) attempted during the game.

With interest in the NBA Cup already plummeting and viewership for the entire NBA down almost 50 percent since 2012, fans believe that the constant 3s have become a turn off.

Defense isn’t prioritized, while offensive sets routinely give way to 3 after 3 fired from long distance.

For some, the Mavs and Warriors combining for 48 made 3-pointers meant NBA history.

To others, it was another reminder that the NBA, especially in the regular season, has almost become ‘unwatchable.’

“NBA sucks now,” one fan tweeted.

“WILD SHOOTOUT WITH ZERO DEFENSE ALL GAME,” a second fan posted.

“They said….nobody play defense tonight!” a third fan wrote.

“I never thought I’d see the day when two teams dropping nearly 50 3s feels normal,” a fourth fan posted. “The NBA’s evolution is actually insane to witness in real time.”

Even Warriors coach Steve Kerr acknowledged that the ‘modern’ NBA has become a ‘different game.’

“Ten years ago, you happen to see that kind of offensive stat sheet … … we win that game by 20,” he told reporters.

Luka Doncic and Thompson attempted 11 3s apiece for the Mavericks, who improved to 17-9 with the road win.

Stephen Curry shot 19 times from the floor, with 13 of the shots being 3s.

Golden State fell to 14-11 and lost despite shooting 47.6 percent overall and 50 percent (27 of 54) on 3s.

The NBA could move the 3-point line back or change current rules to emphasize defense more.

But with 3s counting more than 2s, team have figured out the easy math and are now shooting 3 after 3 — even if it’s not pretty to watch 136 overall misses in a 48-minute game.

“What happened to the NBA”? one fan tweeted.

“The final score looked like something out of an All-Star Game,” a second fan posted.
