Mawogola County remains one of the sports enthusiastic zones within Buganda Kingdom with thousands of passionate souls for recreation activities.
In particular, Mawogola West takes the lead within this county that entails the district of Ssembabule.
For the first time of asking a sports festival for Mawogola West has been planned and confirmed.
This inaugural Mawogola West sports festival will take place on Wednesday, 1st January 2025 in Lwebitakuli sub-county.
An assortment of sports disciplines as football, netball, ludo, pool, cycling, omweso as well as a beauty pageant to identify the Miss Mawogola West have all been confirmed.
Sports enthusiast Uthman Kateregga Mwanadamu is the vision bearer of this juicy idea that intends to develop sports and change the mind-set of the people as far as sports is concerned.
“We need to identify talents and develop them as well as building confidence in our people.” Kateregga noted.
Fast forward, a cross section of 25 people from Mawogola were trained to acquire special skills as well as knowledge in handling such a mega festival to the brim.
The training was meant to equip the coordinators in events management, marketing, communication and also technical knowledge.
The education capacity building session was conducted by Buganda Kingdom youth officer Owek. Hassan Kiyemba, joined by Swaibu Mbuga and Kateregga himself.
The recent training was conducted at Hotel African by Festus Kirumira, the vice chairman technical Buganda Masaza football tournament as well as Adam Ssematikko, the former Buganda Principal Sports officer.
The event will commence as early as 8 am in the morning and the festivities are expected to last the entire day until the wee-hours of 2nd January 2025.
