Football Classroom stormed the round of 64 of the 2024/25 Stanbic Uganda Cup after overcoming Kampala Regional side 1-0 at YES Centre, Nsambya on Tuesday.

Ex-Ugandan international Mike Sserumaga scored the winning goal from a stunning free kick in the second half which Felix Ssekabuza’s lads held on to win.

Despite missing injured Ayub Kisaliita and the absent Habib Kavuma, Moses Kigongo and Allan Munaaba, the hosts were still dominant like they have done in all matches.

The tense match saw Ssekabuza introduce Yasser Mugerwa and Osama Farouk in the second period but the side had the luxury of leaving Godfrey Walusimbi and Dan Wagaluka on the bench for 90 minutes as well the writer himself, Ismael Kiyonga.

“As a coach, am delighted to achieve the target of the team,” said Ssekabuza.

Sserumaga wants the team to draw giants Vipers in the next round but believes there is potential in the team to go even further.

“As a player, I would want to face my former team Vipers in the next round,” he said.
