  • Mbale Heroes vs Vipers SC – Mbale 4pm
  • KCCA vs SC Villa – Lugogo 7pm

The two most successful football clubs in Uganda, KCCA and SC Villa lock horns at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Friday with its coaches under pressure.

Abdallah Mubiru’s team could be 3rd and just five points behind leaders NEC who have played one more match but the recent drop in form has seen his position scrutinized especially by fans.

KCCA have won just one of their last five games and back-to-back home defeats to NEC and Express saw them lose top spot in the process.

Defeat against Villa could spell doom for the tactician who was credited with turning around the club’s fortunes last season following an abysmal start under Portuguese Sergio Traguil.

Morley Byekwaso

For Villa and Morley Byekwaso, it is even worse with fans demanding for his resignation every time the champions drop points.

And like KCCA, they have won just once in the past five league matches but are further behind on the table in 9th place with 16 points, a whopping nine behind table leaders.

Key Stats

  • Since 2012, there have been 23 premier league meetings with KCCA beating Villa 14 times [L2, D7]
  • KCCA are unbeaten in the past 12 home league matches against Villa [W9, D3]
  • SC Villa’s last win over KCCA was four years ago, on December 15, 2020 when they won 2-1 at Bombo with goals from Nicholas Kabonge and Ronald Ssekiganda. Brian Aheebwa scored KCCA’s consolation.
  • KCCA have lost their past two home games; 1-0 to NEC and Express FC.
  • Villa are yet to win a game away from home this season [D1, L4]

Team News

Derrick Nsibambi

KCCA could welcome back striker Derrick Nsibambi from injury after he missed the game at Wakiso Giants.

It remains to be seen whether Ashraf Mugume and Bright Anukani will be recalled to the starting XI after they were left out of the match at Wakiso.

Filbert Obenchan, Ibrahim Juma, Abu Mayanja and Peter Magambo are also doubtful for the Kasasiro.

Ronald Ssekiganda

For Villa, goalkeeper Jean Brady Wokorach is out and Meddie Kibirige could continue in goal.

Ronald Ssekiganda hasn’t fully trained with the squad and is set to miss the clash like it has been in the past two matches.

Arnold Odong returned to training after missing the last match against Police.

Probable line ups:

KCCA: Mugolofa (GK), Gavin, Mubeezi, Muhamood, Mujjuzi ©, Sserujongi, Mugume, Mayanja, Katenga, Nana, Anaku

SC Villa: Kibirige (GK), Owori ©, Odong, Lubangakene, Ssemayange, Atukunda, Ssemugera, Kakande, Kiwanuka, Lwanga, Mpande
