Christian Kist says he had no idea his historic nine-darter had won him £60,000.

The Dutchman sent a raucous Alexandra Palace crowd wild with a sensational effort at the 2025 World Championship.

It was the first nine-darter since the 2023 final and just the 15th time it been seen at the event and resulted in a bumper payout.

Paddy Power split £180,000 evenly between Kist, a random fan picked out by the Sky Sports cameras and Prostate Cancer UK.

Kist only found out about his payday in the break after winning the opening set of his first-round clash with Madars Razma.

“It was a special moment for me yesterday and for the fan and for the charity. It was great,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I was very surprised. A nice surprise. I said nothing, ‘Oh nice that’s nice’ [upon being told of the sum]. I will spend the money on my family maybe a holiday,

“I don’t know I didn’t think a lot about it because all the fans at home want to speak so I didn’t really think about the money.

“I would like to go on holiday when I don’t have to play or train so can rest.”

Kist went on to lose despite scoring the first Ally Pally nine-darter since Michael Smith hit one in his 2023 final win over Michael van Gerwen.

He met up with the lucky fan – a railway worker from Sutton called Kris – after the game.

“It was very special for me. It feels great. I’m a little bit disappointed I lost in the first round but I’m very happy over the nine-darter,” the Dutchman told Sky Sports.

“The last few darts I was a little bit nervous. You heard the crowd.

“I spoke with him after the game, he was a little bit nervous, me also, he only said, ‘Thank you, thank you for the nine-darter.’”

In an interview with the PDC after the match, the fan was asked how he felt after winning the huge sum.

“Speechless to be honest!” he smiled. “I didn’t expect it to happen to me, a free competition, just speechless. I’m shaking still!”

Asked what the money will do for him, he added: “No idea but me and my partner have literally [just] moved into a flat this year.

“So maybe we’ll stick some on the mortgage, maybe a nice holiday, I don’t know!”
